Default Wow

I serve on a community Crime Board and while at a meeting tonight I was surprised by the number of theft and B&E cases that are starting to happen, accordding to local and county law enforcement we have had a 12% increase in the last 6mo. Whats more troubleing is that officials are saying that will get even worse as the Jobless run out of unemployment Comp. I was heartbroke to hear the testimony of A 31 year old man who was self employed in the Construction field say that he had no choice to steal food for his wife and their 3 year old daughter because he could not find work. He was very broken to have only got 12 mo. probation for stealing a roast and 2 cans of soup. In his remarks he said that he had exhausted all avenues for help DSS and Salvation Army and had his documents of denial with him. What made this surreal for me was his last statement " I never thought I would have had to steal to feed my wife and child, I never thought I would have to go hungry only to watch my child and wife share 2 cans of soup or a can of spam, I HAVE LEARNED TO NEVER SAY NEVER. THIS IS REAL FOLKS ITS HAPPENING NOW AND ITS GOING TO GET WORSE.

side note: the Police officials on hand had this young mans record on hand and all he had prior to this was a speeding ticket 10 years ago

Has this what America has come to? Im truly saddened!!!

This is a sad situation. I know a young man who is disabled and has been trying to get disability for the last 3 years. This fellow has had to move in with his brother, and is very unhappy, however his father doesn't want anything to do with him and I am surprised to have heard his brother ask him to move in whith him. Every time he has applied and denied.

Euna 90% of the time they will deny a person the 1st time of applying. It took getting a lawyer to get both of my grandparents on disability. Its sad that the people who need help the most are denied by the state but yet people who never even look for a job or who just dont want to work are accepted for all government assistance!!!
